I ask because i am doin it...

I have my iPad 2, got it linked, have configured "touchABLE" (awesome app) and had a play, now i'm delving into touchOSC.... If there is any of you out there with knowledge, helpful links, any other good apps, etc. please throw them my way...

My idea is a super interactive wireless setup allowing crowd interactivity, expressive movement, and possible all possible shenanigans!

I like touchable a lot- I am waiting for the guide to the latest update so I can figure out how to configure the xy's. Touch osc also just came out with an update but I havent spent too much time with that one yet. I just got the Kapture pad app which is also an xy based app but you provide the settings and then move between the four settings you have selected so you can get quite a variety of sounds.

i've an iPad but didn't find sound application that are really interesting (except the fact you touch it your fingers of course). Maybe you could help me : do touchABLE and touchOSC work with iPad1 ? Are there other cool app I may not know ?

TouchOsc is the shit as far as being able to design your own templates. You'll need Osculator too though to convert the OSC to MIDI. I haven't figured out how to get feedback from ableton back to the ipad yet but i am pretty sure there is a way with M4L.

I have an iPad1 and touchosc definitely works...

What I want to know is if anyone has successfully rigged up touchosc -> pure data -> Bomes -> Ableton and back again succesfully...

Trying to get my Bomes Midi template for my APC40 working at the same time as iPad with touchOsc but no love...

I've gotten MIDI feedback working with TouchOSC and Osculator on an iPod Touch.. I can't give you exact instructions because I'm not exactly sure how I got it to work but they will show up in Osculator and it will let u configure the MIDI feedback just like you configure everything else.. I'm sure you'll need to enable "Track" and/or "Remote" for the output going back into Osculator in the MIDI prefs (not sure which one works and which one might cause a nasty MIDI feedback loop) ymmv

I'm considering buying an ipad pretty much just for touch OSC, opinions on if its worth the the $$$? i've used touch osc a few times on a fairly basic level and loved it .

Even just for the mobility with TouchABLE as just a controller for writing whilst on the road is awesome! But the possibilities are huge.
Obviously i thought it was worth it, or i wouldn't have bought one...

I've had some incredible success making instrument racks with the X,Y, features with touchable. Hours spent on this tab idea and here's some hard learned results

-touchable is INCREDIBLE!!!,
-touchOSC is good for super simple "oh I just need to add 1 little thing" (touchOSC=iPhone/iPod touch) however there is very chance this will remain in the spotlight in the near future

RAZOR / any additive synthesis that has effects built in before the iddy bitty sine waves become audio (currently only available with razor is by far the ideal choice for any producer turned live performer since it will always sound 110% crystal clear (unbelievable tones) even as you pitch shift the hell outa it, delay/reverb and some really great filters. ---- side note---- yet again NI did a beyond crappy job of envelope/LFO mapping and even worse job with setting the parameters of them. this is where the ipad+Touchable makes all the difference

*****Map out the rack to the x,y, section and create gestures loops (for all intensive purposes they function just like dummy clips that end up working a billion times better than any NI LFO or envelope ever produced

Email me for the patches/help/advice ==== DrCrunkle@gmail.com

I also build windows based custom touch screens for mad cheap, like this

@DrCrunkle

i have been working on a FTIR multitouch rear projection table and have all of the hardware built and working fine but when using the device with my macbook pro, via CCV, it eats up almost 50% of my CPU...
have you had similar issues?

i also have been messing with my ipod touch and touchosc/osculator, and noticed on osculators website that it can support TUIO, specifically with reacTIVision. have you ever tried this/if so is it as consistent as the ipod/ipad? (if so thats exactly what i need)

im basically looking for the best/most professional way to control ableton with the touchscreen for performance purposes, and at this point i would rather the TUIO be controlled by an external computer so leave some CPU for music improvisation.

ive been on the NUI forum looking around but there isnt much in terms of music performance, max/msp patches, or osculator/touchosc.

thanks in advance

SixBux alll day!! Great record btw ShifeQ!

So I spent about an hour researching a reply when all of a sudden I found this article and hit the breaks ---> Currently window's based projection touch or hardware touch screens are better than apple.

Introduce Apple Lion OSC available in july for 30$
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2386436,00.asp

I'm just going by history here... it'll probably change the whole "touch" industry

here's my favorite but there's gotta be a cheaper frosted glass projection touch screen option
http://www.musiccomputing.com/motioncommand
-the frosted glass projection touch is SOOOOO COOOL.

http://www.ocularlcd.com/products/multi_touch
-touch pad components

-too expensive don't even bother unless you really want to prove your technical skills to some moneybags nterested in touch screen displays

-5 best touch screen laptop

-- epic touch screen computer

* do it yourself guide to making a projection touch screen....

@harperrn - you need an independent computer for your touch screen because of graphics and interface input processing. If I had to pick the best theoretical solution to your problem or what I would do is wait a month for the new apple OS and then you'll be able to use any 'slave' computer with a touch screen attached to control the ableton live computer's mouse the same way you can already do that with the mouse of another computer. This is because the new OS supports multi touch within the operating system itself
--I hope that didn't sound more confident than it should... I make a terrible geek

Is it the NativeKontrol Bomes template? Cuz that guy is super helpful and I am sure he would be willing to help you out with getting that working if you shoot him an email.
